Chairman's Address -

'Significant progress has been made in the financial year ending 30 June 2007, particularly as regards the commercialisation of the patented White Energy coal upgrading technology which was originally developed by the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation in conjunction with TraDet Inc, K.R. Komarek Inc and The Griffen Coal Mining Company Pty Limited. In summary, the technology processes high moisture sub-bituminous coal resulting in a product with the following characteristics:

Higher Energy Value: demonstrated to produce 11,000 BTU’s per pound (6200 kcal/kg) coal briquettes from 8,000 BTU’s per pound (4,500 kcal/kg) sub-bituminous coal; an increase of 37.5% in heat energy output.
Higher Economic Value: processing costs are low allowing the upgraded product to compete favourably with bituminous coals.
Physically and Chemically Stable: able to be handled and transported as an equivalent to bituminous coal with a significantly reduced risk of spontaneous combustion.
Significantly Reduced Transport Costs: reduced moisture content leads to a reduction in load volumes by 20 – 30% with a corresponding reduction in transportation costs.
More Environmentally Friendly: increased energy value leads to more efficient burning with a higher value energy release with lower carbon emissions resulting in the potential for carbon credits.'
