White Energy is an innovative coal technology business listed on the Australian Securities Exchange that is well positioned to leverage global macro trends in the energy sector and take coal into the future as a cleaner and more efficient fuel.

White Energy is the exclusive worldwide licensee of the Binderless Coal Briquetting (BCB) technology which is a low cost mechanical process that upgrades high moisture, low value sub-bituminous and lignite coals through a process of dehydration and compaction. The resultant product is a dense, physically and chemically stable briquette with higher energy content and value which can be handled like normal coal.

Our patented BCB technology enables the more efficient utilization of the 465 billion tonnes of proven lignite and sub-bituminous coal reserves that are located throughout the world. This provides White Energy with a compelling economic and environmental model which appeals to our shareholders, joint venture partners, customers and other interested stakeholders.

The BCB process was developed by a consortia lead by the Commonwealth Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) and other leading coal industry players. White Energy was integral in developing this technology and ensuring that the coal briquetting opportunity has evolved from concept to a commercial reality. Our transformational upgrading and briquetting process is cost and operationally superior to other competing technologies.

With global demand for cleaner and more efficient fuels increasing in importance, new technologies will be required to identify more efficient ways of generating energy. White Energy with its proven technology is already in a commercial phase and represents a significant step in helping us realise a cleaner and more efficient coal solution.

More recently, White Energy has identified a unique opportunity which utilises the BCB technology to upgrade discarded coal fines (thermal, metallurgical) into compactable, transportable and useable briquettes of significantly higher value. The Company is currently in advanced discussions with a number of coal mining companies in Africa and the United States in respect of this opportunity.

During 2010, White Energy acquired South Australian Coal Limited, which holds exploration licence EL4534, a large sub-bituminous coal resource located in the Lake Phillipson Basin in South Australia.
